Culture in real – life

Lately, I have read a lot of posts about company culture. While some strike and miss, I proud to share that my company hits the bull’s eye. A few weeks ago, I shared that my Co-CEO’s wife sends a handwritten card birthday card to every employee that includes two movie tickets and a message of appreciation for our efforts. I was impressed.

This morning, my boss raised the bar again. She shared that she struggles with a way to show her appreciation for her team at Christmastime. No gift would be enough to represent her wish for our families and us. This year, she tried something new. Her husband is a firefighter, and this year he pulled the Christmas day shift. As a wife of a retired police chief, I know the drill. Usually, the children he encounters on Christmas day don’t have much, and if he is there, they are not having a good day. She decided to buy gifts from us to give to the children on their runs. Each gift was selected based on our personalities. Mine was a fab art craft kit that fits me to a tee, and Karen’s was an “adopt a pet” kit because she is a huge animal lover. The other gifts were items we would have selected, which demonstrates that she knows her team. Her incredibly thoughtful gesture exemplified the IronNet culture and made me grateful to be here.

I wish each of you a similar experience as we slow down for a few days and celebrate with our families.
